Visiting Kazan


Kazan is one of the rapidly developing Russian cities. It is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. Kazan is located at the confluence of the Volga River, as well as Kazanka River. The city has an old history, as according to the records it was founded in the Middle Ages. It is known, that Kazan was an important trade route, which connected the region with Scandinavia and Iran. Kazan was conquered by Russians in the sixteenth century. Nowadays Volga River cruise is one of the most popular forms of turism in Russia.

Kazan has numerous historical and architectural sights, that’s why the city is included into the World Heritage Site of UNESCO. The city is full of old monasteries, churches and mosques, representing the historical past of the city. Kazan is also famous for its theaters, as well as international festivals held in the city, wich make this city a nice place for a Russia tour.
